Tens of thousands of people protesting about climate breakdown joined a 4-day festival in and around Parliament and Westminster, organised by Extinction Rebellion, together with many other groups. They held pickets outside government buildings and organised a huge colourful demonstration around Parliament, demanding a halt to all new fossil fuel projects and the setting up of emergency citizen assemblies throughout the country.

One of the aims of the festival was to unite different environmental groups including Friends of the Earth and build a unity among the organisations. Extinction Rebellion have recently announced that they are holding back from their previous tactics of disrupting roads and railways.
