You’ve got until Sunday to enter a lottery for a seat in the House of the People, which will meet in July as a parallel Parliament. A snapshot of the public will meet for three days: 50 people nominated by their communities and 50 people selected by democratic lottery. They will hear the concerns and hopes of local people, learn about the science from experts and set out a new course for our country to take. The results will be written up into the People’s Charter : a new national mandate for government.
The organisers say: “Democracy is the pride of Britain, but it’s out of date. That’s why ordinary citizens are building the House of the People. It’s a new national voice to decide what people in the UK really want, not just those at the top.”
